SITE VISIT AT THE PORT OF GDAŃSK AUTHORITY

CRUISE HIGHLIGHTS

Gdańsk is a city with over a thousand years of history. During the cruise on board the ship, we will have the opportunity to know it from a completely different perspective. Sailing along the Motława River through the center of the Old Town and the Main Town, we will have a closer look at some of the historically and strategically important monuments and structures that have, in ways, contri-buted to making the Port of Gdańsk the fastest growing port in Europe. The recently restored Gra-nary Island, the National Maritime Museum with the Sołdek ship, the Polish Baltic Philharmonic, the old Imperial Shipyard, reloading terminals including the most modern KSC Sugar Terminal, Wisłoujście Fortress, Monument to the Defenders of Westerplatte, and Obroncow Westerplatte Quay are just to name a few among others. The cruise will provide a deeper insight into the func-tioning and development of the port, illuminating major business opportunities and ongoing ad-vancements in the maritime sector.

INVESTMENT PROJECTS

In the area of the Inner Port, the modernisation of the fairway, the expansion of the quays and the improvement of navigation conditions are towards completion — a project co-financed in 85 per-cent by the European Union. This is one of the most important investment projects implemented by the Port of Gdańsk Authority S.A. Thanks to this undertaking, the port channel will increase in terms of width and depth, allowing access to the Inner Port to a wider range of vessels and provid-ing ships with safer navigation conditions. The expansion of the quays will lead to, among others, extended mooring lines and improved technical parameters. On the other hand, thanks to the mod-ernisation of the fairway, the permissible draft of ships entering the inner port will increase.

In addition to projects carried out by the Port of Gdańsk Authority S.A. investment projects by the entities operating in the area of the internal port are also in progress. In the immediate vicinity of the Wisłoujście Fortress, an Offshore Center is being built. It is an investment of the Gdynia Maritime University. It will enable comprehensive, specialised research and development work for the innovative maritime industry.
